Q.   Which versions of QuickBooks are supported by EZLynx Accounting?

A.   EZLynx Accounting supports all versions of QuickBooks Desktop, and QuickBooks Online.

  

Q.   Does EZLynx Accounting support accounting at the branch level?

A.   Yes! Interactive branch accounting is available in EZLynx Accounting.


Q.   Can I import data from my current accounting system into EZLynx Accounting?

A.   No, however EZLynx Accounting tracks all new accounting information. QuickBooks allows entering of beginning balances. An agency can print reports from their prior Accounting software program to save for historical records.


Q.   When moving to EZLynx Accounting, when should my prior accounting system be turned off?

A.   We suggest using the prior accounting system until its account balances are moved to QuickBooks. (For a cleaner transition, we also advise to wait until the last date of a quarter or period.)


Q.   Can I print checks from EZLynx Accounting?

A.   EZLynx supports check integration with QuickBooks. Once checks are exported from EZLynx and imported to QuickBooks, they can be printed.


Q.   Can I edit or delete an invoice, receipt or deposit?

A.   EZLynx Accounting supports a reversal process that retains an audit trail. The reversal process creates the off-setting transactions/journal entries necessary for updating the transactions.


Q.   Can I pay bills with EZLynx Accounting?

A.   Carriers, producers, clients and third party payees can be paid using EZLynx Accounting. Operating expenses must be paid using a different Accounting software program.


Q.   Can I process payroll with EZLynx Accounting?

A.   No, however EZLynx accounting can be used to process Commission Payables.

How Do I Fix a Mistake in Accounting


There are times when an invoice, receipt, deposit or check transaction is created in error in EZLynx Accounting. These transactions cannot be edited or deleted, however EZLynx Accounting supports a reversal process to correct these types of errors that:

 

  1. Retains a complete audit trail
  2. Creates opposing journal entries to clear open balances

 

To avoid errors, transactions should be reversed in the following order.

Steps to reverse transactions

 

  • Reverse a Receipt, Deposit or Check
    • Export the General Ledger to QuickBooks.
    • Hover over the Accounting icon, select one:
      • Receivables (receipt or deposit)
      • Payables (check)    
    • Locate the Receipt, Deposit or Check.
      • To avoid errors related to direct bill cash receipts, reverse the check BEFORE the receipt.  
    • Go to the right, click Actions, and select Reverse.
      • For a Deposit, select Refund Reverse

 

  • Reverse Invoices

There are two workflows to complete the reversal of an invoice, depending on whether the

original EZLynx receipt is correct or incorrect:


For both workflows first locate the receipt and check associated to invoice:

  • Export the General Ledger to QuickBooks. 
  • Locate the applicant associated with the invoice.
  • Click the Invoices tab at the top.
  • Locate the invoice, and click blue reference number to open.



  • To locate check, expand Premium line item and click blue Net Premium link.
  • The Receivables Payments section lists the receipt reference number.
  • The Payables Payments section lists the check reference number.




To reverse an invoice with a correct receipt:

  • Reverse the check
  • Reverse the invoice:   
  • Hover over the Accounting icon, select Billing.  
  • Locate the Invoice.  
  • Go to the right, click Actions, and select Reverse
  • Re-create a new invoice from applicant account. 
  • Locate receipt, and click Actions, select Apply by Invoice
  • Select the new invoice and Save
  • Re-create a new check


To reverse an invoice with an incorrect receipt: 

  • Reverse the check, deposit, receipt and invoice (in this order). 
  • Re-create a new invoice, receipt, deposit and check with the correct information.

Why is there a Negative Payable for a Direct Bill Cash Receipt?


If a direct bill cash payable is added to a check and finalized, but the direct bill cash receipt is later reversed, then a negative payable will exist until one of the below steps is taken.

Steps to resolve a negative payable (choose one):

  1. Locate & reverse original check.
    • After obtaining direct bill cash receipt reference #, click Accounting icon & hover to choose General Ledger.
    • On Postings screen, enter direct bill cash receipt reference #.
    • Click Payment Type to sort until Check appears.
    • The check reference # will appear under the Payment Ref. # column.
    • Reverse check

 

OR

 

  1. Add negative payable line items as a credit to a check, which will also clear the open payable.
