Two of the most important setup steps for quoting is setting Carrier Logins and inputting answers for Carrier Questions. As an Agency Admin, there are some optional steps you can take if your agency has a unique situation like an agency shared carrier login, or if you want to require your agents to use the same answers for Carrier Questions rather than set their own.

In this article we will cover how to set and share a Carrier Login with specific users making it a requirement to use the shared carrier login rather than setting their own. We will also cover how to set agency wide answers to prefill for Carrier Questions if the agent didn't set their own and how to lock down the ability for individuals to set their own answers for Carrier Questions requiring them to use the agency wide answers instead.

Shared Carrier Logins

Sometimes you have a carrier where the entire agency shares the logins, or you want to control who can set their own carrier logins at your agency. If this sounds like your agency, you (the Agency Admin) can email EZLynx Support at support@ezlynx.com to request access. Once you have access, you'll be able to setup a Shared Carrier Login for your agency using the steps below.

1. Hover over the Settings icon.

2. Choose Carrier Quoting Setup. This will take you to the Manage Carriers page.

3. Select View Details on the carrier in question. This will take you to that carrier's details page.

4. Navigate to the Shared Logins tab.

5. Input the shared username and password for the carrier.

6. Select Save and Test.

If the username and password saved successfully, you will see a green check mark. If you get an error stating that the test was unsuccessful, we recommend testing your logins on the carrier's website. To do this, select Actions in the top-right and choose Visit Carrier Site for quick and easy navigation.

7. Once you have a green checkmark, select the Add Shared Users button. This will open the Shared Users window.

8. Check the boxes next to the users you want to require using this Shared Login. This will prevent them from setting their own individual carrier logins for this carrier. Any user not checked here, will be able to set their own carrier logins for this carrier. Check out our Rating Engine - Set Carrier Logins article to see how.
9. Once done, select Share. This will close the Shared Users window.

You'll now see an Edit Shared Users button which you can use to change who must use the Shared Login as well as how many users the login has been shared with. Once you are finished, select Go Back to go back to the Manage Carriers page.

Agency Carrier Defaults

Every carrier asks their own required underwriting questions during the quoting process. Users can set common answers as defaults that automatically pre-fill into new rating applications to make quoting faster. As the Agency Admin, you can set agency wide defaults that will pre-fill if individual users don't set their own carrier defaults. You can also use Agency Admin permissions to lock down the ability for individual users to set their own carrier defaults requiring the use of the agency wide default instead. Check out the steps below to find out how!

1. Hover over the Settings icon.

2. Choose Carrier Quoting Setup. This will take you to the Manage Carriers page.

3. Select View Details on the carrier in question. This will take you to that carrier's details page.

4. Navigate to the Carrier Questions tab.

5. Using the Select State dropdown and the Line of Business buttons, find a combination where the carrier has underwriting questions. For our example, we will use the state of Texas and the Auto line of business.

6. Under the Agency Answers column, input the agency wide default you would like to prefill if they don't have their own carrier defaults inputted.

7. To lock down the ability for users to set their own carrier defaults, select the lock icon so that it is in the locked position. This will grey out the My Answers column removing the ability for anyone at the agency to input their own carrier defaults. This means they will have to use whatever you input into the Agency Answers field, so make sure to input something or your agents will get carrier quoting errors.

Once you are ready scroll to the bottom of the page and select the Save button. To go back to the Manage Carriers page, select the Go Back button in the top-right. You will want to repeat steps 3-7 for each carrier you want to set agency wide defaults for.
