Are you receiving the “Unable to initiate Personal Lines quoting on carrier website” error?

This error is usually caused by one of two things:

 

1)  The carrier username and password set in EZLynx is no longer valid. 

  • Click the carrier's logo on the quote to go to the carrier site.
  • If you're already logged into the carrier site, log out.  
  • Enter your username and password to log into the carrier site (Don't let the password pre-fill.  You need to test what you think the password is).
    • If the carrier login fails, take the steps necessary to get a successful login to the carrier site. Then, update the login in EZLynx by hovering over the Settings icon and selecting Carrier Logins.
    • If the carrier login is successful, go to EZLynx, hover over the Settings icon and select Carrier Quoting Setup, then select Carrier Logins. At the carrier, click Clear on the right, then Set and enter the correct username and password.
    • Don't click Test in EZLYnx to test your login.
    • Resubmit your quote and it will be successful.

2)  An incorrect Agent/Producer Code is entered on the Carriers tab in the EZLynx rating application

  • Agent codes are used in conjunction with carrier login information to transfer quotes to the correct account on the carrier website. These codes can be found within the rating application for any line of business under the Carriers tab.  However, several agency that are going through a Market Access Provider (MGA or Brokerage) will not have the ability to change their agent code

     

    New rating applications will pre-fill the agency code entered in the user's carrier defaults, but existing applications will retain the last code entered. This can cause issues when a different user is quoting a customer for the renewal term.

     

    To fix this issue:

    1. In EZLynx, go to the applicant's Overview tab, and locate the auto or home rating application.
    2. On the right, click View/Edit to go to the rating application.
    3. Click the Carriers tab, locate the carrier and check that the agent code is correct.
    4.  Enter the correct agent code. If running an auto/home package quote, click the Overview tab and update the code for the other line of business also.
    5. Click the Finish tab and Submit to Carriers.  
    6. On the Quote Scenarios page, click Continue at the bottom of the page.
    7. On the next page, at upper left UNcheck the Use My Carrier Defaults & Reuse Prior Prompts boxes, and Submit to Carriers.
    8. Once you receive a new successful quote, you will be able to find the quote on the carrier site.


  • Also, be sure to update the agent code in your EZLynx Carrier Defaults - for both Auto and Home in each rating state. Carrier Defaults are used whenever you click Create NEW Applicant.  Carrier Defaults are not used if you re-quote someone you've quoted in the past. When re-quoting someone you've already quoted in the past, you must update the agent / producer code on the Carriers tab in the application as described above.
