Due to certain data display requirements from LexisNexis, as of October 27, 2022, you will no longer be able to interact with or fully view the following three fields: Social Security Number (SSN), Date of Birth (DOB), and Drivers License Number (DL#). These changes provide increase protection of potentially sensitive personal information. As such, data will be masked using the below formats: 


  • Month and day of DOB masked with zeros (e.g. 00/00/1967)
  • Last four digits of LDB# masked with zeros (e.g. 19140000)
  • Last four digits of SSN masked with zeros (e.g. 447 83 0000)


Once masked, these fields become read only. You will not be able to interact with any saved data in these three fields.

These changes to the view of DL, SSN, and DOB fields will only impact customers who utilize LexisNexis Pre-Fill Service.

Quoting Process


The overall quoting process will remain the same. Responses from LexisNexis will provide the full value for each of the fields they have available. These are passed to EZLynx in their entirety and provided to the carriers during the quoting process. 


These changes only apply to how the data is displayed in these fields. 



How are the Fields Masked? 

Fields are masked for all DL, SSN, and DOB fields in the EZLynx Management System (specifically on the Account Details page) and in the EZLynx Rating Engine (specifically on the Driver's tab): 

  • Month and day of DOB masked with the zeros (e.g. 00/00/1967)
  • Last four digits of DL# masked with zeros (e.g. 19140000)
  • Last four digits of SSN masked with zeros (e.g. 447 83 0000)

Once the data is saved by clicking "save" or navigating to the next step in the rating application, the system applies masking and locks the fields. 

For example, if you are creating a new customer, once you enter either their DL, DOB, and/or SSN and you save the data, we apply the masking and no user in your agency can edit or replace the value in those fields. 



Read-Only Fields Upon Saving Data


With those updates, the DL, SSN, and DOB will become 'Read-Only' fields with the masking applied. Once users enter and save the values in the DL, SSN, and/or DOB fields, these fields will become non-editable. 



How To Edit/Update These Fields


Once you have saved data in the DL, SSN, and/or DOB fields, the only way to edit/update these fields is to perform the LexisNexis lookup. This would replace manually entered data with the look up values from LexisNexis. The lookup from LexisNexis will replace data in the read-only masked fields. Pre-Fill Drivers and Vehicles Selection Window 


The LexisNexis pre-fill is available form: 

  • The Details page on an Account
  • The Driver's step inside of EZLynx Rating

Prior to bringing the data into EZLynx, the data from LexisNexis is returned to the user to verify and select which individuals the user wants to bring into the applicant. DL, SSN, and DOB fields will be automatically masked and displayed as in the screenshot below.



Data Display on the Details Page


Once the fields have saved data in them, they become read-only fields that cannot be edited. Once again, the only way to change the data in these fields is to perform a LexisNexis lookup.



Data Display on the Driver's Tab in Rating


Data on the Driver's tab inside of the Rating workflow in the DL, SSN, and DOB fields is masked. Once the fields have saved data in them, they become read-only fields that cannot be edited.
