Tips for a Successful Text Messaging Brand Registration
Modified on: Wed, 2 Sep, 2026 at 11:39 AM
Before submitting your texting brand registration, review the requirements below. Most registration delays occur because business information, website details, or required compliance pages do not meet carrier standards. Taking a few minutes to verify these items can help avoid rejection and speed up approval.

Entering Your Legal Business Name and EIN
- Refer to your CP575 EIN Confirmation Letter to complete these fields.
- Your legal business name and EIN must match exactly as shown on the CP575 to ensure successful registration.
- Do not use the name on your W2 or W9 forms, as it may differ from the CP575.
- Your EIN should be entered in the format XX-XXXXXXX (9 digits total).
Lost your CP575?
You can request a 147c letter from the IRS to obtain the necessary information for registration. This must be requested by phone — call the IRS Business & Specialty Tax Line at 1-800-829-4933 (Monday–Friday, 7am–7pm local time). It cannot be requested online.
Choosing Your Business Type
- Registered as an LLC, Corporation, Partnership, or Non-Profit? Choose the matching option.
- No separate legal entity, filing under your own SSN? Choose Sole Proprietor.
- Not sure which applies to you? Check your most recent tax return or your IRS EIN confirmation letter — both indicate your entity type.
Website URL Requirements
Common causes of rejection here:
- Your site must be live, load correctly, and be publicly reachable — not behind a login, and not "under construction."
- Your Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions pages must not redirect to a different domain than your business website.
- Avoid free URL shorteners like bit.ly or tinyurl.com. A branded short domain your business owns is fine, but public shorteners cause rejection.
All three URL fields (Website, Privacy Policy, Terms & Conditions) should use a secure HTTPS URL (begin with https://) and be publicly accessible.
Privacy Policy Requirements
Example wording carriers look for: "No mobile information will be shared with third party/affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes."
Don't have a Privacy Policy yet? Some agencies use a policy generator to get started. There are publicly available options that you can find online, such as Termageddon and Termly. EZLynx doesn't endorse a specific provider — these are general resources to review. If you use a third-party tool, check the generated language carefully against your actual data practices before publishing it.
Terms and Conditions Requirements
Make sure you include the following sections in your Terms and Conditions:
- Program or brand name — the name of your texting program or brand
- Program description — a short summary of the kinds of texts customers will receive and why (e.g., "Sends appointment reminders to enrolled customers")
- "Message and data rates may apply" disclosure — the standard carrier-required wording
- Message frequency / recurring message disclosure — how often customers will be texted
- Customer support contact information — a phone number or email customers can use for help
- Opt-out instructions (HELP and STOP), displayed in bold — how to unsubscribe or get help, shown prominently
- Link to your Privacy Policy — a link back to your Privacy Policy page
- Disclosure that carriers aren't liable for delayed or undelivered messages — the standard carrier-liability disclaimer
